Kidzpreneur Happening in St. Louis this April
Is your child a budding entrepreneur? Do they have business ideas? Are they ready to take the world by storm? Be a Kidzpreneur and have the opportunity to pitch your business ideas to our St. Louis Community.
This April, join St. Louis Family Magazine and xplor’s inaugural KIDZPRENEUR competition offering children ages 5–13 the opportunity to pitch their best business or product ideas for a chance to win scholarships and prizes. Created in St. Louis, Kidzpreneur allows kids to gain invaluable experience by presenting in front of a large audience by pitching their business ideas to judges that include local business owners and mentors with the ability to win scholarships & prizes sponsored by area businesses. Kids also get to celebrate innovation in St. Louis with the day culminating in a celebration party with all of the participants. With the exciting innovation that is happening in St. Louis- it only makes sense to be able to enlighten youth in our city to be able to take an active role in creating THEIR own ideas.
This full day community event will include ideas, innovation, STEM/STEAM activities, food trucks, kids activities, a vendor village, local talks and discussions from businesses founders on their entrepreneurial journeys, competition presentation, and a concluding party to celebrate the competitor’s accomplishments.
How It Works:
Kids will be split into the following age groups: ages 5 years to 7 years old, ages 8 years to 11 years old, and ages 12 years to 13 years old. Each age group will be paired with 3 judges (2 professional local entrepreneurs and 1 entrepreneur student from Washington University or Parkway Spark!) with qualifications appropriate for the age group including presentation skills, creativity of idea, validity of idea, and work on the idea.
The first round of competition will be a speed round of 3 minutes to describe and present their idea to the judges at a set appointment time that will be given a week before the event.
At the completion of the speed round- the judges (per age group) will deliberate and select three of the best presenters/ideas to move into the final round.
The final round will be an audience view of the final nine presenters who will all win a scholarship to further enhance their education or experience with their business.
Upon completion of the competition and awards ceremony- a celebratory party will conclude honoring all participants.
